Six Business Time-Saving Hacks To Start 2022 Strong
Whether you’re already working flat out as we start 2022 or it’s your plan to grow even bigger and better this year, learning how to make the most of your work time is absolutely KEY!
Work/life balance is more important than ever, and you deserve to have a successful business that doesn’t also run your energy into the ground.
I’ve compiled a list of my 6 best time-saving hacks for 2022 so you can start this year STRONG!
Create a morning routine
Routine is the number one thing that saves me time. With two young daughters to get ready in the morning, we need a system and a process to make sure we all get where we need to be, when we need to be there.
Maybe you prefer a long, leisurely morning with a cuppa and the news?
Or you might be a get-up-and-go kind of person?
Either way, setting a routine you follow each day takes the guesswork out of your morning. All you have to do is get up and follow the routine to be off to a flying start.
Plan for the next day the night before
This hack works for two great reasons. Firstly, by planning your day the previous evening, you’re setting your subconscious brain to work. While you sleep, it’ll be churning away in the background, problem-solving and coming up with the best approaches.
Secondly, when you arrive at your desk you don’t have to waste any time wondering, “what am I going to do first?” There’s a plan, and you just have to follow it.
Time-block your tasks
We’ve all been there, flitting from one task to another in a frantic attempt to get a little bit of everything done. But it turns out, multitasking can actually erode your productivity.
Instead, set specific times to do specific tasks. Not only will you do much more focused work, but you can plan around your energy levels. Always feel an energy dip at about 3pm? Don’t start trying to do your finances (unless you really love doing that!)
Automate, automate, automate
If there’s a process you have to repeat, automate it wherever you can. Regular payments (in and out of the business) should be on direct debits or standing orders. Recurring orders should be placed in advance. Reports should be scheduled to run as and when you need them.
Stop manually doing all the work yourself, and make use of the many automation tools out there.
Set deadlines for yourself
Often, we live by deadlines that have been set for client or customer work but it’s rare that we set deadlines for our own projects in our business. When you’re planning your week, set mini-deadlines for internal work - it could be a real catalyst for success.
Use a task management system
If you don’t use a central task management system, I would urge you to look into one. Most on the market (even the free versions) allow for task scheduling, automated repeated tasks and can be amazing for communicating on projects with clients or team members. Having a centralised place for all projects and tasks saves so much time searching for them across various notebooks, emails etc.
