How to Launch an Online Course
What would it feel like to be able to have a massive impact with LOADS of people - just by sharing your knowledge and expertise from being brilliant at what you do?
Imagine if you could do it without needing to sacrifice your time and your personal life conducting endless one-to-ones and group sessions?
And that you could be earning money doing this while you sleep?
Sounds good - right? Take a look at the steps below to learn how to launch an online course and take the next step forward in your coaching or consulting business.
Plan, plan, plan
We’ll start by assuming that you’ve researched your course topic with your ideal client and you’re confident it’s going to solve their problems. (If you’re not there yet - we can help with that!)
The first step is to plan what you’re going to teach. The structure, flow and presentation need to work seamlessly together so that learning is a really enjoyable and efficient process for your clients.
Don’t assume more is better - overwhelming your customers with too much information isn’t going to help them to implement what you’re teaching as soon as possible!
Finally, don’t forget to include tasks and challenges to get them practising. The sooner they see results, the quicker they’ll be spreading the word about how everyone needs to buy what you’re selling!
2. Choose your platform
Next, it’s time to choose the online platform you’re going to use to host your course. They’re all different, so you’ll need to think carefully about what matters most to you. Do you need a platform that will help you to reach as many students as possible, or do you care more about using one that includes a range of marketing features?
Here are some of our favourites at Selina & Co.:
3. Get creating!
This one is down to you. How do you work best? Whether it’s a whiteboard, a sea of Post-It notes or a Google Drive document, pull your modules together and try different permutations to see how the content fits together.
Don’t forget to use a mix of mediums - think PDFs, audio files and videos. Screen recordings can be especially useful if you’re explaining a concept that needs to be demonstrated too.
What’s next
There’s one thing left… We’re ready to launch!
One of my top tips would be to consider a beta launch of your course to a small number of your ideal clients before pushing it out far and wide. That way you’ll get paid whilst also receiving invaluable feedback to tweak your content.
Once it’s finalised, it’s time to go BIG! Work with a virtual assistant to produce content that will harness your ideal client’s attention wherever they spend their time online - blogs, podcasts, YouTube, social media - don’t hold back!
