I was absolutely BUZZING with excitement when I started my business… but it didn’t last. 

The late nights, constant stress and never switching off started to take its toll and I began to feel like I was an employee; not CEO. As Selina & Co. grew bigger, my work-life balance got worse — and with every new client I won, my admin, marketing and operations became harder to manage. 

I had two choices — accept this as my reality and the glass ceiling I’d reached, or dream bigger and find a way around it. 

(No prizes for guessing which one I chose!)

  1. Found myself a superstar VA who I could trust 100% to handle things. It was hard for me to let someone in — but I knew that I needed to stay in my zone of genius if I was going to take my biz all the way.

  2. Developed a method for consistently checking in with myself and making sure that as much of my time as possible is spent on the tasks that I need to be doing — and I delegated the rest.

  3. I made a playbook of every. single. process. in my biz so I could quickly and seamlessly delegate any tasks to my team (without needing to repeat myself 100 times!) and hosted this in our project management software so we could constantly add and tweak as we learned. 

  4. I saved emails and communications that my team and I were re-writing over and over again and logged these with our SOPs — making sure we’re all on the same page and working as efficiently as possible. 

  5. I implemented systems in my biz that made collaboration super effective. MS Office became Google Drive, planning spreadsheets became Trello workflows and all content scheduling now goes through ContentCal
