The Secret To Doubling Your Income While Doing LESS Work

Now to get into this blog…
It sounds too good to be true, right? The ‘hustle hard’ mentality has tricked us all into believing that we have to work longer and longer hours to become successful.
So much so, that it’s common for entrepreneurs to feel guilty if they’re achieving success without working 50 or 60+ hours a week.
But it doesn’t have to be like that.
Like many biz owners, I used to be employed in a 9-5 role and found myself frustrated.
I was working increasingly longer hours
The commute was adding time onto my already busy schedule
I was missing important family time with my young daughters.
To put it simply, I’d had enough and I knew something had to change.
I started Selina & Co with the aim of taking back control of my work/life balance - and for a while it worked.
But as the business grew and became more successful, I had a familiar feeling nagging inside of me.
The hours were creeping up again. I was feeling stressed and I wasn’t giving my best to my family.
And knowing what I do now, it’s no surprise. After all, it’s said that entrepreneurs work 63% longer than the average person!
This wasn’t the way I wanted my life to look, and so I made some changes.
I made the right hiring decisions, bringing in subject matter experts to help me grow the business while allowing me to take a step back and oversee things.
I concentrated my time in my Zone of Genius, and realised that other people are better and more efficient at certain tasks than I am (which also means I don’t have to do those pesky tasks I used to DREAD.)
I implemented the right processes and business structure to allow communication to flow in my team. Project management & chat software allows everyone to know the status of tasks, even in a remote and diverse team (Asana is one of my favourites!)
The result of doing all of this is FREEDOM.
I have the freedom I need to creatively think about the next steps for my business.
I have the freedom to concentrate on delivering an exceptional experience for my clients.
I have the freedom to prioritise my self-care, including taking EVERY Friday off.
Because taking time off in your biz is also super important.
This freedom is what helped me to double my profits while working less. And I use the same techniques with my clients to help them achieve the same.
Closing Thought
It might sound too good to be true, but I'm proof that with some strategic decision-making, you can build a business where you work less hours while still growing and making more profit.
What changes will you make in your biz to give yourself some more freedom? Let me know in the comments!
